Rodeo
2017 is in full swing.  The flowers are thinking about budding and Spring Rodeo season is upon us! Take a look at what Rodeos are going on in your neighborhood and around the US. Please check out their websites for more information regarding tickets.

  • February 3, 2017, IPRA Stockyards Championship Rodeo, Fort Worth, Texas.  A rodeo offered every Friday night in Fort Worth, featuring Bare Back Riding, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, and more!  Come and check out Cowtown Coliseum.  Check out their website for ticket and schedule information.
  • February 10-12, 2017, IPRA 35th Annual Lone Star Championship Rodeo, Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Featuring a three night event for Bareback Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Cowgirl's Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding.  Check out their website for ticket and schedule information.
  • February 15-17, 2017, The American Semi-Finals Rodeo, Fort Worth, Texas. Grab your cowboy hat and enjoy a three night event of Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling and more.  Friday presents the Shootout Round.  Check out their website for tickets and information.
  • February 16-26, 2017, Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, Scottsdale, Arizona. Come see these beautiful horses show off their amazing skills of showing as well as dressage. This huge event features things for the entire family: Ice Cream Socials, Art Classes, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Military Appreciation Day (includes free admission for military and their families), and so much more.     • February 24-25, 2017, IPRA/SPRA Shelby County Cattlemens Association Annual Rodeo, Columbiana, Alabama. Held at the Exhibition Center, general admission is $12. Children under 6 get in free. Features Bronc Riding, Barrels, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Chuckwagon Racing, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, and more.  Check out their website for event information.
    • March 7-26, 2017, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston, Texas. Houston might be hosting the Superbowl this year, but they always host the Superbowl of Rodeos.  This is almost three packed weeks of nightly concerts, carnival rides, and crazy carnival food.  The rodeo features awesome line-ups of talent in Barrel Racing, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Bull Riding, Tie Down Roping, Bareback Riding, Chuck Wagon Races, and, my personal favorite, Mutton Bustin'.  Check out their website for great explanations about tickets, event calendar, where to park, etc.  I promise you won't be disappointed. 
    • March 11-25, 2017, Rodeo Austin, Austin, Texas.  With a slogan of "Where Weird Meets Western" you really cannot go wrong with this Rodeo.  Live music, great food, and yes, an awesome rodeo every night.  Check out their website for event information as well as great tips on where to park.

    • Wrangler PRCA National Finals Rodeo- December 1-10, 2016. Las Vegas, Nevada. The Superbowl of Rodeos! Participants from all over the US and Canada compete over the course of ten days in hopes of placing in any of the seven events.  Visit their website for ticket and event information.  PRCA National Finals Rodeo Website
    • IPRA International Finals Rodeo 47- January 13-15, 2017. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Come see cowboys and cowgirls compete for the title of World Champion in 8 different events.  Check out their website for more information regarding tickets.  IPRA International Finals Rodeo 47 Website
    • 68th Annual Homestead Championship Rodeo- January 20-22, 2017. Homestead, Florida. A tradition that grew out of a group of seventeen founding members, this PRCA Rodeo is one of the oldest annual professional sporting events in South Florida.     • Whiskey Flat Days Diamond Jubilee Celebration- February 17-20, 2017. Kernville, California.  Join Kernville while it reverts to its old name "Whiskey Flat" for four nostalgic days to the good ol' wild west days when the area was settled by gold miners, cattle ranchers and trappers.  Features a Parade, Wild West Daze Rodeo, Wild West Encampment, Carnival Rides, Whiskey Flat Mayor Contest, Food & Craft Booths, Line Dancing, Gold Panning, Blue Grass & Country Western Music, Art Show, Gunfighter Skits, & much more!  Visit their website for more information.     • Tucson Rodeo Parade 2017- February 23, 2017. Tucson, Arizona. This colorful, exciting Parade pays tribute to its original debut in 1925 and is known to be the largest Non-Motorized Parade in the country.  Parade begins at 9 am and features horse-drawn carts.  Check out their website for more information.  Tucson Rodeo Parade Website

    • Ellensburg Rodeo- September 2-6, 2016, Ellensburg, Washington.  This Rodeo that started back in 1923, is one of the top ten professional Rodeos.  It kicks off on Thursday with a County Fair and a Hoe Down.  Continuing on into Labor Day Weekend with Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) Rodeo and a Cinch Shoot-Out.  This event promises to be something special!  Check out their website for more information.  Ellensburg Rodeo
    • Central Texas State Fair- September 2-4, 2016, Belton, Texas.  A three day fair that features Professional Bull Riding (PBR) Rodeo, Demolition Derby, Livestock Show, Mutton Bustin', a Hypnotist Comedian, Carnival and more!  Check out their website for more information.  Central Texas State Fair
    • Charlotte Frontier Days- September 8-11, 2016, Charlotte, Michigan.  This fun weekend celebrates old traditions with a focus on family fun!  Features the Sundance IPRA Pro Rodeo, a Cowboy and float-filled parade, a wood-working expo, a chili cook-off and more.  Check out their website for more information.  Charlotte Frontier Days

    • Northwest Barrel Racing Association Finals- October 7-9, 2016, Gillete, Wyoming.  NWBRA is a nonprofit barrel racing community of several combined states. Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska. These huge finals in Gillette, WY feature over 500 barrel racers competing for money and prizes.     • Austin County Fair & Rodeo- October 12-16, 2016.  Bellville, Texas.  Celebrating their 89th Annual County Fair and Rodeo, this four night affair features a PRCA Pro Rodeo beginning at 7:30, Livestock shows, calf scrambles, an Antique Tractor Show, Pet show and more!  Check out their website for more information.  Austin County Fair & Rodeo

    June 11-12, 2016. Columbus, Wisconsin.  Looking for a unique event to go to?  This one has your name on it.  A whole competition of horse-drawn carriages.   From ponies to draft horses, these drivers will be competing for prizes and ribbons.  Check out their website for more information.
    June 15-25, 2016.  North Platte, Nebraska.  An entire Festival celebrating Nebraska's heritage and history.  There will be a four day rodeo along with a classic car show, Miss Rodeo Nebraska Pageant, a micro brew festival, concerts, and many kids events.  This is a festival you don't want to miss!  Check out their website for  more information.
    July 5-10, 2016.  Guthrie, Oklahoma. Come and watch kiddos aged 5-18 years old from all over the US compete for a chance at a National Title, prize money, and scholarships.  Includes pole bending, barrel racing, team roping, and more.
    July 13-16, 2016.  Colorado Springs, Colorado.  A celebration of western heritage for 70 years. Held in the Norris-Penrose Event Center, the rodeo kicks off with a parade followed by performances of invitational and finals championships for some of the top athletes in rodeo competition in categories like bareback riding, steer wrestling and more.     July 13-16, 2016.  Iron River, Michigan.  This UP Rodeo is a Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) 49th Annual event featuring a Miss UP Rodeo Pageant, the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses, and championship rodeo competition.  Please check out their website for more information.
    July 22-31, 2016.  Cheyenne, Wyoming. An annual rodeo and western celebration honoring the rich heritage of Cheyenne, Wyoming. 10-day festival features bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing and saddle bronc riding competitions. You can also catch parades, live music, a midway fair with rides, an Indian Village showcasing Native American-inspired goods, and a demonstration from the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.  Check out their website for more information.
    August 19-27, 2016.  Denton, Texas.  Beginning back in 1927, this event is a combination rodeo competition and Texas Fair.  Lots of live music, barbecue, carnival rides, games and a parade, but also livestock shows and of course rodeo. For more information check out their website.

    Albuquerque, New Mexico. March 4-6, 2016.  The United States Team Roping Championship (USTRC) presents a $160,000 pot for a weekend of fun Team Roping.  See website for more details.
    Houston, Texas. February 25- March 20, 2016. Horse cutting, carnival, bull riding, team roping, mutton bustin', and more!  This family friendly event has great talent from around the nation show up to give you a show.  During the month of March find nightly concerts from your favorite country western singers.  Check site for more ticket information.
    Casa Grande, Arizona.  March 11-13, 2016. A USTRC event with a $160,000 money pot. See website for more details about entry price.
